Sayres is seeking a Linguist/Analyst (Expert/Senior/Primary) with Top Secret/SCI with CI poly located in Northern Virginia.

Clearance Requirements

All Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen. Preference will be given to Candidates with TS/SCI with CI poly. However, all other candidates with any level of clearance, including those with no clearance, but who are deemed eligible, may be considered.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will perform in the role of an Expert, Senior, and Primary Level Linguist/Analyst and will be responsible for the full range of activities in processing material or participating in situations requiring advanced capability to perform translation, transcription and interpretation.

  • Translate a wide variety of complex texts that may contain difficult, idiomatic, scientific, and colloquial writing. 
  • Capture subtleties, nuance, tone and register.  Text might include commentary reflecting specific culture to analysis to argumentation and translator can capture meaning of socio-cultural elements embedded in text.  Expression reflects native usage.
  • Identify and accurately summarize all pertinent factual information and abstract concepts, recognizing the significance of complex expressions, such as colloquial text or technical terminologies.
  • Triage documents to isolate full range of information that is of importance to the task at hand.
  • May assist with material development, strong computer skills (MS applications and internet research).
  • Interpret at virtually all levels, including complex or highly idiomatic speech with a very high degree of accuracy. Excellent command in terms of speaking and comprehension of one or more dialects. Successfully render expressions specific to a culture and convey almost all subtleties and nuances approximately.
  • Ability to handle effectively and mode/register required. Function familiarly with the subject matter. May have some skills in simultaneous interpretation.
  • Review audio material writes/transcribes information from target language into English with high degree of accuracy expression.
  • Review another linguist's work accuracy of content and quality of written expression commensurate with his/her own ability as a translator.
  • Work with reports, memos, correspondence, or audio on specialized topics such as scientific or technical, or that is more formal in nature, oral communication at conference level.

Near native proficiency in reading, writing and speaking in at least one of the following languages:

 Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • Masters is preferred.
  • Must have 10+ years professional work experience (Expert level) and 3-10 years of professional work experience for Senior and Primary level.
  • ILR Testing Requirements: Expert minimum ILR 5-5+ for translation or interpretation on interagency language roundtable.
  • ILR Testing Requirements: Senior minimum ILR 4-4+ for translation or interpretation on interagency language roundtable.
  • ILR Testing Requirements: Primary minimum ILR 3-3+ for translation or interpretation on interagency language roundtable.
