Sayres provides engineering and management support to PMW 160 to fulfill architecture, analysis, interoperability assessments, engineering, Configuration Management (CM), technical management services, Science and Technology, Verification, Validation, and Certification, Software Engineering Support, Cost Engineering and Economic Analysis, Reliability and Systems Safety Assurance Engineering and Analysis, Integration, and Interoperability (I&I), Future Capabilities and new construction ships.


In support of PMW 160, the Engineer (Senior) will:

  • Support the formulation, refinement, and transition of innovative and advanced technical concepts and engineering processes/approaches.
  • Support the management of PMW 160 system engineering teams. This effort includes, but is not limited to, yearly engineering task formulation and spend planning support to meet program-level objectives, engineering POAM and schedule development/tracking/reporting, and Agile Epic, Phase, and Sprint planning/tracking/reporting.
  • Support the development of new and updated PMW 160 Tactical Network systems, capabilities, and integration methods. Development shall be conducted in accordance with the PMW 160 ECR process, applicable PMW 160 Agile development processes, and POR/system- specific SEPs.
  • Support the planning, preparation, conduct, and reporting of PMW 160 verification and validation events. Events include, however are not limited to, Baseline System Integration Tests (BL SITs), Application Integration System Integration Tests (AI SITs), Bulk Verification Events (BVEs), individual ECR verification events, EPR and bug closure testing, Developmental Integration (DevInt) Testing, and CSA/CSE Cloud-based testing.
  • Support system deployment engineering activities to include NIEF/production facility-based installations, and shipboard and shore-based installations. Support EPR/ECR/Bug identification, creation, tracking, remediation, and reporting during deployment phases.
  • Support In-Service engineering activities. Support proactive problem identification on fielded PMW 160 systems via trending assessments including, but not limited to, Trouble Ticket trending, Fleet Feedback/Reports, CORONA Reports, EOL assessments, and CTO/FRAGORD tracking.

Required Experience and Abilities

  • Ability to monitor, validate, and troubleshoot Information Technology systems in a complex technical environment.
  • Ability to operate, administer, and manage systems while following documented procedures.
  • Ability to analyze logs, error reports, and other data to identify trending and conduct root cause analyses.
  • Ability to analyze and recommend solutions for one or more of the following technologies: LAN/WAN switching and routing, datacenter servers, storage, and hardware virtualization technologies, zero/thin/thick client workstation hardware and software, datacenter domain software Microsoft and/or RHEL, datacenter enterprise software (messaging, collaboration, fileshare, directory service), datacenter enterprise management software and methods, cloud-based hosting and management technologies, mobile device/handheld solutions, video distribution and VTC technologies, Cross Domain technologies, wireless LAN configuration and administration, rack integration and engineering, engineering cybersecurity into systems, overarching system-of-system architectures and system engineering processes.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years' experience supporting the engineering of Information Technology systems for a DoD or Government Agency.
  • Minimum of six (6) years' experience supporting the engineering of PEO C4I systems.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership within a team of both government and industry in the planning, investigation, design, and implementation of physical and logical PEO C4I solutions.
  • Ability to guide subordinates and team members to define, analyze, and provide solutions for the PMW160 Afloat Network systems
  • Ability to guide subordinates and team members on engineering practices in accordance with PMW160 processes, policies, and approaches.

Education, Work Experience, and Skills Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Cybersecurity, or Physical Science required.
  • MS degree desired.
  • Other Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/training may be substituted for:
    • Four (4) additional years' experience supporting the engineering of Information Technology systems for a DoD or Government Agency (for a total of ten (10) years)


  • Three (3) years' experience supporting the engineering of DoD Afloat Network systems (CANES, ADNS, ISNS, CENTRIXS, SCI Networks, SUBLAN, and/or COMPOSE)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and MS Project is desired
  • SECRET clearance
