Sayres and Associates has an immediate need for Category III (CAT III) deployable linguists to provide translation, transcription, and interpretation support to U.S. Military operations in Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), Syria, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Turkey and Yemen in the following languages:

Albanian, Arabic-Modern Standard, Arabic (Levantine), Arabic-Iraqi, Arabic-Iraqi/Kurdish (Kurmanji or Sorani), Arabic, Iraqi/Turkoman, Bengali, Chechen, Fijian, Hindi, Malayalam, Nepalese, Pashtu/Dari, Persian-Afghan-Dari, Persian Farsi, Punjabi, Russian, Serbo-Croatian, Singhalese, Tagalog, Tamil, Telugu, Thai, Turkish, Turkoman, and Urdu

The Linguist Category III (CAT III) will be responsible for the following:

  • Provide translation, transcription, interpretation, and written and spoken communications from the target language to English and vice versa during diplomatic, general operations, interviews, meetings, conferences, document, and communications exploitation missions and other events.
  • All selected/qualified employees will be required to complete testing/re-testing 30 days prior to starting.
  • This position may require some travel.

Qualifications & Clearance Requirements

Education, Work Experience, Skills and Clearance Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Meet at a minimum the criteria of ILR Level 3 in both the source language and English.
  • Able to understand the essentials of all speech in a standard dialect and have a broad enough vocabulary that s/he rarely has to ask for paraphrasing or explanation.
  • Ability to conduct consecutive and accurate translation, transcription, and interpretation services of on-going conversations and intelligence collection activities using correct syntax and expressions.
  • Ability to accurately provide the cultural, customs, and ethnic context.
  • Ability to accurately perform document exploitation (scan, research, and analyze foreign language documents for intelligence information).
  • Physically and mentally prepared to endure extended periods outdoors in all weather conditions and terrain while accompanying  U. S. Forces in harsh and hostile environments.
  • Able to travel.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain SCI.


  • Native proficiency in the source language.
