In support of Gulf Coast shipbuilding programs, the Environmental, Safety, and Health On-Site Representative (OSR) Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) will be responsible for the following:

  1. Demonstrating substantive knowledge and understanding of local, state and federal environmental, safety, and health processes, procedures, laws, regulations and guidance, having particular knowledge of those pertaining to the ship dismantling industry.
  2. Demonstrating knowledge and experience of, but not limited to, EPA sampling protocols, quality assurance, laboratory analysis methods, record keeping, notification procedures, abatement operations, identification, handling, removal, labeling, storage, transport, recycling, and disposal of regulated and non-regulated materials and wastes, as applicable, and shall have the ability to identify the location on-board a ship where these materials may originate.
  3. Demonstrating knowledge of, but not limited to, respiratory, personal protection, fall protection, confined space, hot-work, material handling, and rigging requirements, as applicable.

Qualifications & Clearance Requirements 

Education, Work Experience, Skills, and Clearance Requirements:  

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Five (5) years of successful experience working in an environmental or safety related capacity at a marine industrial facility, such as shipbuilding, ship repair or ship dismantling, can be substituted for education.
  3. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products, particularly Word, Excel, Power Point and Access.
  4. Effective communication skills both oral and written.
  5. Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance as required by the contract.


Bachelor's degree in any of the following disciplines: biology, chemistry, environmental science, environmental health, geology, industrial hygiene, and/or an engineering discipline including safety engineering.
