Responsibilities

The Data Analyst will work with clients, subject matter experts, and team members, in a collaborative, fast-paced, and growing organization to support CONFLASC Task 2, the DSS Strategic Management Office (SMO). The candidate will conduct data mining, perform basic and advanced analytics, and leverage research best practices to support operational decision making as well as play a critical role in helping Defense Security Services use complex data to better understand security risks and potential solutions. This position is located at the client site in Quantico, VA.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  1. Independently perform a variety of qualitative and quantitative analyses related to risk management, industrial security operations, and program administration.
  2. Retrieve and interpret a large volume of complex data from a variety of sources, analyze results using statistical techniques, and provide ongoing reports.
  3. Identify root causes and propose solutions.
  4. Develop and implement data collection systems and other strategies that optimize efficiency and data quality.
  5. Evaluate statistical information to determine risk or non-compliance.
  6. Conduct data mapping and extract, transform, and load (ETL) activities.
  7. Support strategic planning activities.
  8. Conduct business process re-engineering.
  9. Administer, collect, and assist with analyzing climate surveys.
  10. Support the execution of the DSS Senior Leader Annual Meetings (SLAMs).
  11. Provide editorial support to all oral and written products delivered to leadership in DSS.
  12. Support the execution of the DSS governance structure and processes.
  13. Support all meetings and activities that involve the DSS senior leadership.
  14. Support the development of strategic communications' plans and their execution.
  15. Assist with knowledge management of all DSS documents and data regarding significant DSS decisions.
  16. Assist with achieving leadership alignment of DSS senior leadership and management around DSS goals and a single common vision.


Qualifications & Clearance Requirements

Education, Work Experience, Skills, and Clearance Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in math, statistics, operations research, economics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  2. Two (2) or more years of experience with statistical software packages (e.g. SAS, SPSS, R, or STATA).
  3. Two (2) or more years of experience conducting quantitative analysis (e.g. regression, time series analyses, and ANOVA, techniques for dealing with missing data).
  4. Minimum 18 months' experience in DSS or in some element of industrial security.
  5. Some work experience in related fields of consulting, facilitation, leadership alignment, or strategic collaboration.
  6. Knowledgeable of physical, cyber, and personnel security requirements of the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM).
  7. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  8. Mastery of Microsoft Office programs (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Calendar, and Email).
  9. Active Secret security clearance. 

  Desired:

  1. Experience with methods from operations research (e.g., decision and risk analysis, Monte Carlo simulation, sensitivity analysis, and optimization).
  2. Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner.
  3. Two (2) or more years of experience conducting research and design of business systems and processes.
  4. Skill in managing multiple projects and stakeholder interests with timeliness, accuracy, and quality.
