Responsibilities

The Commissioning Director will be responsible for the following:

  1. Lead the Commissioning Support Team in the planning and execution of U.S. Navy ship commissioning events.
  2. Provide subject matter expertise and overarching project planning/management support to cognizant Program Executive Offices and pre-commissioning crews in a wide range of ceremony related activities including; comprehensive site analysis and pier set up support, invitation/RSVP database management, protocol, ceremony design, operations and logistics, and crew training efforts.
  3. Provide coordination and liaison support to a diverse commissioning stakeholder community, encompassing ships' force, commissioning committees, local city, port, law enforcement officials, media/public affairs, and Navy force protection representatives.

Qualifications & Clearance Requirements

Education, Work Experience, Skills, and Clearance Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Minimum 15 years of experience in the management of U.S. Navy programs/projects, including two (2) years' experience in the execution of military ceremonies or special events.
  3. Minimum 15 years of experience working with naval ceremonies and/or naval special events.
  4. Strong leadership, project management/planning, technical, and communication skills.
  5. Ability to work with and communicate with senior officials.
  6. Excellent administration skills.
  7. Active Secret security clearance verifiable in JPAS.
