Responsibilities

The Material Procurement Analyst will support the PMS 385 Strategic and Theater Sealift Shipbuilding Program and will be responsible for the following:

  1. Work with PMS 385 Post Delivery, Expeditionary Sea Base (ESB), Expeditionary Fast Transport (EPF), and Ship Design Manager representatives to procure materials in support of ship availabilities and installations.
  2. Review materials required for work package items, review specifications, and ensure material items meet requirements.
  3. Order required material items, review pricing, research available suppliers, and conduct pricing comparisons to obtain optimal pricing. Retain documentation of costs and utilize accounting system to support invoicing to government. Track material funding levels to ensure sufficient funds are available for the year based on anticipated requirements.
  4. Review required delivery dates and lead times in order to meet ship in-yard need dates to support work items.
  5. Track shipment from suppliers and ensure proper documentation for receipt/delivery is maintained. Review packaging, handling, care and protection requirements for materials and ensure shipments comply.
  6. Provide weekly brief to PMS 385 Post Delivery Manager to review status of material purchases, lead times, delivery dates, in-yard need dates, and costs. Report any issues related to material purchases, possible impacts, and mitigation plans.

Qualifications & Clearance Requirements 

Education, Work Experience, Skills, and Clearance Requirements:  

  1. Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience OR a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
  2. Attention to detail.
  3. Strong organization and interpersonal skills.
  4. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  5. Active Secret security clearance verifiable in JPAS or the ability to obtain one.
